The United Kingdom has applauded Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, for his commitment to combating insurgency, and restoring stability in the region.
British Deputy High Commissioner, Gill Atkinson, gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the governor’s office in Maiduguri, the state capital.
“On behalf of the British Government, I recognise the efforts of the governor, in tackling insurgency and supporting the people of Borno State, particularly aiming to secure a prosperous future for those displaced by conflict,” Atkinson said.
She reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region, highlighting ongoing support through the regional stabilisation facility.

In response, the secretary to the state government, who represented Gov. Zulum at the meeting, expressed gratitude for the UK’s continued partnership.
“With the UK Government, we have built strong collaborations. The governor deeply appreciates this support and has instructed me to convey his special message of gratitude,” he said.
The UK has been actively supporting humanitarian, and stabilisation efforts in Borno States, which has faced over a decade of insurgency.
