Tinubu calls on Nigerians to embrace their diverse backgrounds

President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to embrace their diverse backgrounds to help the country achieve stability and swift development.

He made this statement on Sunday, while in Rome, Italy, where he met with members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, as shared by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.

During this meeting, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of unity, saying that if Nigerians can use their differences for positive outcomes rather than conflict, it would lead to a hopeful future filled with stability and progress.

He also noted the significance of being Nigeria’s president during the inauguration of a new Pope in Rome.

The bishops were part of Tinubu’s group attending Pope Leo XIV’s inaugural Mass.

Archbishop Lucius Ugorji, who leads the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for enabling their visit to the Vatican, where they could pay their respects to the late Pope Francis and participate in the new Pope’s ceremony.

He highlighted that this development marks the beginning of a stronger relationship between the president and the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria.

Archbishop Ugorji added that the bishops appreciate President Tinubu’s continued support and look forward to inviting him to their conferences in Nigeria, hoping to collaborate similarly to how he interacted with the Pope.

The meeting included several prominent archbishops, such as Ignatius Kaigama of Abuja, Alfred Martins of Lagos, and Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah from Sokoto Diocese.
