President Bola Tinubu has extended the tenure of Bashir Adewale Adeniyi as the head of the Nigeria Customs Service for an additional year.
Adeniyi was originally set to finish his term on August 31, 2025, but now he will continue in this role until August 2026.
This extension comes as part of efforts to allow Adeniyi to strengthen ongoing improvements and complete important projects that align with the goals of the Tinubu administration.
Some of these key projects include updating the Customs Service, working on a new system to simplify trade procedures, and fulfilling Nigeria’s commitments under a regional trade agreement in Africa.
In a statement, Tinubu expressed his confidence in Adeniyi’s leadership and dedication to his job.

The president believes that this extended time will help the Nigeria Customs Service better achieve its important tasks, which include facilitating trade, generating revenue, and ensuring border security.
Adeniyi was appointed as the Customs Chief in October 2023, taking over from Hameed Ali, and he had initially started in an acting role before being officially confirmed.
