Tinubu appoints Adekaiyaoja as 1st female DSS deputy D-G

Folashade Adekaiyaoja appointed by Tinubu as first female deputy DG of DSS

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Folashade Adekaiyaoja as the deputy director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Adekaiyaoja, who hails from Kogi State, is the first female operative in the history of the DSS to assume the position.

Though the Presidency has yet to release an official statement, a source close to the matter disclosed that the appointment is part of the president’s efforts to enhance professionalism and improve the performance of the nation’s secret police.

The move is said to be a strategic step towards reorganising the DSS and fostering career progression for its operatives.

National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, is said to have recommended Adekaiyaoja for the role through Oluwatosin Ajayi, the Director-General of the DSS.

This appointment marks a historic milestone for the DSS and reflects the administration’s commitment to promoting diversity and excellence within Nigeria’s security architecture.
