Nottingham Forest has announced that Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has signed a new contract extension that will keep him at the City Ground until the summer of 2028, an official statement on the club’s website said.
The 28-year-old played a vital role in Forest’s successful 2024/25 Premier League season, starting 35 out of 38 league matches.
While he primarily played as a left-back last season, the Nigerian international was mainly utilized on the right side of the defense, demonstrating his versatility and reliability.
His defensive efforts were outstanding, as he led all players in Europe’s top five leagues for winning possession in the defensive third last season.
In addition to his defensive skills, Aina contributed offensively by scoring two goals, including a notable left-footed shot during Forest’s 3-0 win against West Ham United at the City Ground.
His performances were key in helping Forest achieve a commendable seventh-place finish in the Premier League.
Aina joined Forest from Serie A club Torino in the summer of 2023 and has since made 59 appearances in all competitions for the team.

He is also nearing a personal milestone, needing four more caps to reach 50 appearances for the Nigerian national team.
Regarding his contract extension, Aina shared his enthusiasm: “I’m over the moon, and I can’t wait to continue this journey with the Club.
“It has always felt like home since I joined, and I’m happy to be here. My focus now is on preparing well for the new season and getting back to hard work.”
Aina’s new contract not only acknowledges his exceptional performances but also allows him to continue his impressive journey with the Reds.
