Shehu Sani turns down Miss World pageant judge appointment

Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central, has officially declined an invitation to serve as a judge for the upcoming Miss World Nigeria Beauty Pageant.

The highly anticipated event is scheduled to take place on April 4 at the prestigious Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos.

The announcement of Sani’s appointment came from event organizer Senator Ben Bruce, who is a close friend and former colleague of Sani from their time together in the eighth Senate.

In a post on his official X handle, Bruce expressed his excitement by saying, “Hearty congratulations to my good friend, Shehu Sani, on his appointment as a judge for the Miss World Nigeria Beauty Pageant, taking place on April 4 at the Federal Palace Hotel. Kindly ensure you arrive on time, 6:00 PM sharp, and come dressed in your finest attire.”

However, just a day later, Sani made it clear through his own social media account on X that he would not be participating. He graciously thanked Bruce for the honor but shared his reasons for the decision. Sani humorously noted.

“My wives will not be happy if I serve as a judge. I have not been able to pass judgment on the most beautiful between my wives, let alone those I don’t know.” He acknowledged his lack of expertise in beauty pageants, stating, “I don’t have the knowledge or experience in such events.”

Sani also highlighted the timing of the event, which coincides with the Sallah season, a period that he traditionally dedicates to spending quality time with family and friends. He concluded his message with appreciation for the opportunity and well wishes for the pageant, adding, “Thank you for the honor and wish them well.” The former lawmaker also extended his apologies to Bruce and the organizing team for any inconvenience his rejection may have caused.
