The Rivers State House of Assembly presided over by Rt Hon Victor -Oko Jumbo on Tuesday received the State Accountant General’s audit report on local government councils and petition against the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Ltd , NNPCL, on the massive oil pollution at Bonny island.
The house however did not consider any of the reports at the sitting, rather two Bills were considered and they scaled first reading.
They were the Rivers State College of Nursing Science Bill, 2024, sponsored by the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Orubienimigha Adolphus Timothy, and the Rivers State Real Estate Regulatory Authority Bill, 2024, sponsored by the Leader of the House, Hon Sokari Goodboy Sokari.
The Rivers State College of Nursing Science Bill, 2024, aims to establish a college of nursing science in the state with high-quality nursing education towards promoting and developing competent nursing professionals.

On the other hand, the Rivers State Real Estate Regulatory Authority Bill, 2024, is intended to regulate the real estate sector in Rivers State, promote transparency, accountability, and fairness in the industry, towards creating a more organized and trustworthy real estate market in the state, ultimately benefiting both developers and homebuyers.
In his remark, the Speaker, Rt Hon Victor Oko-Jumbo assured of the commitment of the House towards the expeditious consideration of the petition and audited reports.
The House thereafter adjourned plenary to Thursday, December 12, 2024.
