As Muslims in Gombe State and across Nigeria prepare to mark the Eid-el-Fitr festivities, the Gombe State Police Command has announced a series of enhanced security measures to ensure a peaceful and secure celebration.
To guarantee public safety during the celebrations, the state police command said it has deployed a comprehensive security network across the state.
The measures, according to the statement made available to journalists on Saturday by the command’s spokesperson, Buhari Abdullahi, include, increased police visibility and patrol, stop and search, crowd control strategies, surveillance and intelligence gathering, among others.
The police urged residents to remain security, conscious, the need for them to promptly report any unusual movements or objects to the nearest police station or security personnel.
“Attendees should remain vigilant in large gatherings to minimize security risks. Those traveling for the celebrations should properly lock their homes to prevent break-ins.

“Residents should follow instructions from security officials at public venues, including prayer grounds and recreational centers.
“Motorists are advised to obey traffic rules, avoid reckless driving, and ensure their vehicles are in good condition before traveling, and parents and guardians should keep a close watch on their children, and educate them on safety precautions,” the statement read.
The command further reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents during and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, adding that the authorities have called on the public to cooperate with security agencies and celebrate responsibly.
