Police foil kidnap attempt, arrest 2 suspects in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has thwarted a planned kidnapping and arrested two suspects linked to threats made against a resident of Song Local Government Council.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, the arrest followed a formal complaint by one Hassan Dabutu of Song Local Government.

Dabutu reported receiving threatening phone calls from an unknown number, warning him to pay a sum of money or risk being kidnapped.

The complainant, Nguroje noted, also disclosed that his family had previously endured multiple kidnapping incidents, during which a total of ₦20 million was paid in ransom to secure the release of relatives.

Acting on the report, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, according to the release, directed operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) to launch an immediate investigation.

The operation led to the arrest of two suspects, 15-year-old Abdulraman Musa of Nguru and 60-year-old Adamu Orte from Machina in Yobe State.

Items announced to have been recovered from the suspects include a SIM card, a mobile, and other exhibits connected to the case.

The police, as made known by the PPRO, have commenced further investigation, and the suspects will be charged to court upon its conclusion.

Morris reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to protect all residents and maintain public safety across the state.
