Police deny assaulting a Ghanaian-German national in viral video, call it misleading
The Delta State Police Command has denied allegations circulating in a viral video that its officers assaulted a Ghanaian-German national during a stop and search operation along the Agbor-Benin Expressway.

In a press statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Edafe Bright, Thursday, the police described the claims made by a Nigerian woman in the video as false and aimed at discrediting the force.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on May 8, 2025, when officers stopped a commercial Sienna vehicle carrying seven passengers. During the routine search, the woman began recording and verbally attacking the officers, accusing them of misconduct. The police maintained that their personnel remained calm and professional throughout, and that no assault took place, suggesting the woman intended to provoke a social media reaction.

The Command emphasized that stop and search operations are critical in combating crime, often leading to the recovery of weapons and illegal items. It urged the public to cooperate during such checks and directed anyone with complaints to contact the Delta State Command’s complaint response unit via the provided hotlines.
