Police arrest notorious 34-year-old gunrunner in Adamawa, recover ammunition, grenades
In a major security breakthrough, the Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a 34-year-old gunrunner, Sunday Moses, for illegal arms and ammunition trafficking. This arrest comes as part of heightened security measures ahead of the festive season and the ongoing farm harvest period.

The suspect was arrested in Kwatau Village, Hong Local Government Area, during a coordinated operation that commenced on December 1, 2024. The police operation involved raiding criminal hideouts, increasing patrol visibility, and conducting stop-and-search exercises across the state.

Parading the suspect before reporters, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, revealed that the intensified operations extended to areas such as Song, Gombi, and Hong. The operations not only led to the arrest but also resulted in significant recoveries, including 193 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, 171 rounds of 9x19mm pistol ammunition, and two hand grenades.

According to the police chief, the crackdown on criminal activities has effectively dismantled hideouts and disrupted plans by criminal elements to regroup within the state. Morris expressed gratitude for the support of residents, emphasizing the importance of community vigilance and collaboration with law enforcement agencies.

“Together, we will ensure peace and security across Adamawa State and beyond,” the Commissioner of Police assured. He further called on residents to provide credible and timely information to security agencies, reiterating the importance of collective effort in the fight against crime.

The Command also pledged to sustain its proactive measures throughout the festive season to maintain law and order. The ongoing operations underscore the commitment of the Adamawa State Police Command to safeguarding lives and property during this critical period.
