Police arrest armed robbery suspect in Adamawa, recover weapon, military camouflage

The Adamawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of a suspected armed robber, Zephaniah Alfred, 29, in Zangun, Numan Local Government Area, marking what authorities describe as another significant breakthrough in the fight against violent crime in the state.

The arrest followed a complaint lodged by one Ibrahim Maikano, who alleged that the suspect had threatened to kill him.

Acting on the report, operatives from the Numan Divisional Police Headquarters, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), apprehended Alfred, who had been on the Command’s wanted list for a string of armed robbery attacks along the Numan-Gombe Road and surrounding areas.

During a search of the suspect’s residence, police recovered a cache of incriminating items, including, One locally made pistol, Two live AK-47 rounds, One live pistol round.

Other items recovered are. One live cartridge, a pair of military camouflage trousers, four military camouflage caps,two military camouflage T-shirts, and one black torchlight.

The recovered items, according to the command, are being treated as exhibits as investigations continue.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working in synergy with the 23 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Yola to dismantle criminal networks and safeguard communities across the state.

The suspect, at the time of filing this report, the commissioner said remains in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
