During preliminary questioning, they failed to provide credible information regarding their movements and identities, prompting officers to conduct a detailed search.

A statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the search led to the discovery of two locally fabricated pistols, 16 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 17 live cartridges, and an unregistered 1999 Toyota Camry, believed to have been stolen.

Further investigation revealed that the arrested individuals are members of a gang previously listed on the police watchlist for a string of criminal activities across various parts of the Lagos metropolis.

“The suspects are currently cooperating with investigators and have provided useful intelligence to help track down other gang members and accomplices,” Hundeyin said.

“Once investigations are concluded, they will be charged to court.”

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements.

He urged Lagos residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to law enforcement.

“This successful operation is a reflection of our resolve to make Lagos safer for everyone,” CP Jimoh stated.

“We will continue to intensify our efforts until criminality is eradicated from every corner of the state.”
