Plateau Police to arraign 22 suspects over brutal killing of 13 wedding guests in Mangun
In a development following the horrific killing of 13 wedding guests in Plateau State, the Police Command has confirmed that 22 suspects will be arraigned today, July 10, at the Plateau State High Court. The suspects are facing serious charges related to a mob attack that shocked the nation and reignited calls for urgent action against communal violence.

The tragic incident occurred on June 21, 2025, in the Mangun community of Mangu Local Government Area, when a convoy of 31 wedding guests traveling from Basawa in Zaria, Kaduna State, mistakenly entered the area en route to Qua’an Pan Local Government Area. According to reports, the group stopped in Mangun to ask for directions but was suddenly attacked by an irate mob.

The violent ambush claimed the lives of 13 people, including women and children, sparking nationwide outrage and calls for justice from human rights organizations and civil society groups.

The Plateau State Police Command has come under increased pressure in recent weeks to act swiftly, especially amid growing concerns about communal attacks and mob justice across the region. As the court proceedings begin, families of the victims and rights advocates are calling for a speedy trial and maximum penalties for those found guilty, hoping that justice served will help bring closure to a tragedy that has left deep scars on the nation’s conscience.
