NUJ Bayelsa Council condemns attack by gunmen on Rhythm 94.7FM
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bayelsa State Council, has condemned the attack by gunmen on a private radio station, Rhythm 94.7 FM, Yenagoa.

Gunmen on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at about 2:10 pm and on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at 4:40 pm attacked the station, carting away valuables including mobile phones, recorders, and operational gadgets belonging to the radio station and the staff on duty.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) state Chairman, Comrade Tonye Yemoleigha and the Secretary of the council, Comrade Stanley Imgbi, respectively, in a statement, described the attack as a rape on the media family in Bayelsa State and an attack on press freedom.

The statement enjoined the security agencies in the state, especially the commissioner of police to fish out the perpetrators of the crime and bring them to book.

It further urged that a police patrol van be stationed by the media house, as is the case in several strategic points in Yenagoa, because of the isolated location of the radio station.
