NSCDC apprehends suspected drug dealer, burglar in Kano

The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 42-year-old man, Basiru Ahmed, for being in possession of over 106 parcels of substances believed to be Indian hemp.

Spokesperson of the command, Ibrahim Abdullahi, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said the suspect was arrested at Salanta, in Gwale Local Government Area of the state, following credible intelligence reports.

He noted that the suspect was caught red-handed selling and distributing the illegal substance within the community.NSCDC apprehends suspected drug dealer, burglar in Kano

He also hinted that the suspect has since been handed over to the state command of the National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and necessary legal action.

In a related development, Abdullahi said another 22-year-old, Muhammad Abbas, was nabbed at Gurungawa, in Kumbotso Local Government Area, for allegedly burgling residential homes and carting away valuable property worth hundreds of thousands of naira.

“The suspect, who had been on the security watchlist for some time, was apprehended during a coordinated patrol aimed at curbing theft and other criminal activities in the area.

“The suspect will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation,” he stated.

The command, however, urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely information that will assist in ridding the community of any criminal elements.
