The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed that there were no casualties in the runway incident involving an Air Peace’s flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning and was officially reported in a statement by Mrs. Obiageli Orah, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at FAAN.
The flight, registered as 5N-BQQ, took off from Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos and successfully landed at the Port Harcourt International Airport at approximately 7:45 am.
However, upon landing, the aircraft overshot runway 03, prompting immediate safety protocols to be enacted.
Mrs. Orah expressed relief in her statement, saying, that “we are pleased to report that no injuries or fatalities have occurred.

“The evacuation of all 127 passengers onboard has been conducted safely, and every individual is accounted for.”
She advised passengers planning to travel to Port Harcourt to anticipate potential flight delays.
“We urge travelers to stay informed about their flight statuses and allow for extra time as our team works to resume normal operations,” she added.
She assured that FAAN is committed to providing further updates as the agency receives more information.
Orah emphasized the organization’s steadfast dedication to ensuring the safety and security of all passengers and crew at Nigerian airports.
