Youths protest, accuse Monarch of refusing ritual, parading self as ‘born again’

The irate youths in Ikun, Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State have protested against the nonchalant attitude of the monarch of the town to the incessant premature deaths of promising sons and daughters of the area.
The youths yesterday carried leaves, palm leaves, and placards with various inscriptions to express their displeasure about the tragedy that has befallen their towns which has been causing unrest and panic.
The protesting youths accused the King, Onikun of Ikun, Oba Olokunbola Adedoyin for refusing to be involved in rituals and culture that could stop the calamities.
They further alleged that the King was neglecting traditions and started parading himself as a “born-again Christian”.
The youths stormed the palace, threw leaves, and palm leaves, and laid their hands on the only petrol station in the town owned by the king.
When contacted, the monarch Oba Olokunbola Adedoyin who ascended the throne 19 years ago, said he had been trying his best to attract development to the town since he became the Onikun of Ikun.

The traditional ruler said the irate youths had threatened to kill him and his son before they attacked his petrol station.
He said an attendant at the petrol station was matcheted and 3 generators valued at 1.5 million naira were vandalized.
He further described himself as a prayer warrior with others that have been praying for Ikun Akoko.
The divisional police officer for Oba Akoko confirmed that some people were arrested at ikun and will be arraigned in court when contacted.
