We use proactive measure, new strategies to curb crime in Lagos- DCP Kontagora

The Deputy commissioner of Police in charge of operations Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, DCP Ahmad Kontagora, has revealed how the adoption of proactive means of modern day Policing and introduction of
latest combat strategies have helped the Command operatives to repel many armed banditry attacks in the state metropolis

The Deputy Commissioner spoke to The Trumpet in his office. In less than 24 hours after operatives of the Lagos State Police Command foiled an armed robbery attack at the vast Dangote refinery situated at Ibeju Lekki area of the state.

DCP Kontagora, a top intelligence operations officer with vast experience in policing, has contributed in no small measure to bring crime rate to its minimal level in Lagos.

He told The Trumpet that proactive means and the use of community policing strategy, as well as new strategic means of fighting crime have helped in chasing dare-devil criminals away from the state.

Recently, the Command has announced the arrest of no fewer than 200 armed robbery suspects within two months of assumption of the Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi; the arrest of the suspects led to the recovery of many arms and ammunition during separate raids carried out by operatives at different criminal hideouts in the state.

The suspects have been charged to court in accordance with the law. Following his exploit in crime fighting within Lagos State Command, the management of The Torch Media decided to honour DCP Kontagora with a
meritorious award in combating crime in the state.
