We are ready to enthrone Peter Obi as President in 2023, says LP chieftain

By Isaac Olamikan

Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi, Chairman of the Labour Party(LP) in Edo State, has stated that the party is fully prepared and strategizing on ensuring victory for its presidential candidate, Peter Obi in the 2023 polls.

In a chat, Ogbaloi debunked claims that the party has no structure which may affect the chances of Obi winning in 2023.

“It is not my culture to give prominence to issues that have no foundation. Peter Obi is a great man who has served Nigeria meritoriously wherever he is. When he speaks he confidently refers you to his past achievements.

“Such a man cannot now decide to come to a political party that has no structure. What do you describe as structure? Is it the empty things created by these political parties that have brought hardship, death, sickness, hunger and the likes to the people? No, Labour Party will not associate with anything like that.

“We have our structure intact. As we speak, our local government officials are working on a daily basis to ensure the enthronement of Peter Obi as President come 2023. So, for me, all the talk about us not having structures is meant to distract us.

“Our hands are already on the plough. We have no business looking back. Those who have given us bad governance, whose political parties have set us back, are the ones peddling this idle talk. We are very prepared for the 2023 polls. We are concretising now. It has come to the stage that we must take government from those who have stolen it over the years.”

On the issue of candidates for the polls in 2023, Ogbaloi said, “LP has done what it should do within the confines of the law and the regulations of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). As of today, we have no query as far as our primaries are concerned in Edo State.

“Every candidate has been duly elected. If those saying that we don’t have a candidate have sufficient evidence to prove otherwise it is left for them to present it.”
