Varsity supports security operations in Ogun, Lagos

In line with its social corporate responsibility to host communities, Covenant University, owned by Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church (otherwise known as Winners Chapel), has donated separate Toyota Hilux patrol vehicles to security operatives Police and Navy.
The patrol vehicles were donated to the Sango – Otta Area Command and the Navy Music and Operational Command, all located within Sango – Otta, where the Covenant University is sited.
The Trumpet gathered that the higher institution, which is adjudged to be one of the best in Nigeria, took the decision to support the Police and the Navy, following decisive steps the two agencies have taken to reduce crime in Sango – Otta and its Lagos environs.
It was gathered that Bishop David Oyedepo, who owns the higher institution, has also commended the new Area Commander in Sango – Otta, Musa Mohammed, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), who, since assumption of office, has taken bold steps to embark on familiarisation tour to the University, as well as other higher institutions in the area.

The Area Commander has continued to employ community policing strategy to reduce crime in the area, in line with the vision of the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, (CP) Bankole, who has continued to ensure that Ogun State is crime-free, which is the focus and objective of the Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Alkali Baba Usman, who was on courtesy visit to the state, shortly after he was appointed the Inspector General of Police.
It would be recalled that before now, major crime-related issues had been recorded in Ogun State, which prompted the adoption of new strategies, especially deployment of crack police operatives to monitor the bad roads, which criminals usually use as a spot to attack and rob road users and residents of the state.
Recently, the Agbara Police Division arrested the runaway ritualist who cut off the head of his girlfriend after conniving with his two other friends for money ritual purposes.
The two friends were earlier arrested but the main suspect fled until he was caught inside a village in Ogun State. The three are currently facing court charges for murder.
