UEFA slam Manchester United, others with fines

UEFA have fined Manchester United, Rangers, and Liverpool over certain behavioral breaches committed during Champions League and Europa events The Trumpet gathered.

The European football governing body had directed its Control, Ethics, and Disciplinary organ to launch a full-scale investigation into the incident.

After concluding the investigation, the disciplinary committee submitted its reports to the executive body for action.

The European football governing body fined Manchester United £8,420 for its fans’ wrongful behavior towards the Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone.

United in Old Trafford were losing 1-0 to Atletico Madrid in a Champions League match which made the fans react by throwing objects at Diego Simeone who proceeded to the tunnel leading to the dressing room.

Atletico Madrid dumped Manchester United out of the Champions League with a 2-1 scoreline on aggregate.

UEFA also fined fellow English topside, Liverpool for a late kick-off in a match against Portuguese side Benfica.

Despite winning 3-1 on April 5, UEFA cautioned Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp over a reoccurrence.

Meanwhile, Scottish club Rangers were fined €46,250 for late kick-off in a Europa game against Braga where they lost 1-0 at the Ibrox Stadium.

The fans also aggravated the punishment for lighting up fireworks in the stadium which UEFA frowned at.
