U20 W/Cup ticket: Falconets set for Senegal
As the Costa Rica 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup tournament draws closer, the Nigeria Falconets on Saturday, are set to battle with Senegal in a second leg encounter at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, to pick the participatory ticket The Trumpet gathered.
Falconets, in the first leg clash with Senegal, had hit three past the Senegalese goals keeper through the efforts of Flourish Sebastine to give Nigeria a three-goal advantage in the course of the game before it was reduced to two after the home team slotted in a penalty to effect a 3-1 scoreline.
However, the Nigeria U20 female team had featured in the last three editions of the world football competition where they succeeded as the second runners up in 2010 and 2014 but finished as a semi-finalist in 2012.
In the course of the campaign to secure the ticket for the 2022 Costa Rica U20 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Falconets defeated the Central African Republic 11-0 on aggregate and proceeded to the third round to thrash the Congolese team 4-0 in Brazzaville which later waved a bye to Nigeria U20 team after it refused to show up for the second leg clash.

Meanwhile, in a bid to continue the pursuit of qualifying ahead of Nigeria, the Senegalese U20 Women’s team arrived in the country on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s second leg clash with the Falconets at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium which will kick off at 4pm.
Following, the continent football governing body (CAF) which listed Ugandan Aisha Nalule as the match commissioner, has appointed a list of match officials from Eswatini to officiate the tie.
According to CAF, Letticia Antonella Viana serves as the referee, while compatriots Cosma Nxumalo, Patricia Mkhaliph, and Rebeccah Tencwala Soko serve as assistant referee 1, assistant referee 2, and fourth official respectively.
It is noteworthy to state that Nigeria, in the course of its qualifying campaign for the 2022 Costa Rica FIFA Women’s World Cup taking place in August, defeated Cameroon 3-0 on aggregate in the fourth round.
