Taraba Governor Ishaku to attend NITP National Conference

The Executive Governor of Taraba State, TPL Chief Darius Ishaku, alongside three other Ministers are expected to attend the 2022 Annual General Meeting/National Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP).

The event tagged: “Physical Planning and Urban Security In Nigeria: Issues, Challenges, And Prospects” the 53rd edition of the conference is expected to hold from 7th to 11th November 2022 at the International Conference Center, Abuja.

The conference which will be declared open by Mohammed Bello, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory will also have in attendance Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; the Defense Minister, Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd.) amongst others.

In a recent media chat with the Chairman, planning committee for the event, TPL. Nathaniel Atebije revealed the aim of the conference was to strengthen the institute’s awareness mechanisms towards prioritizing planning to drive Socioeconomic development, peace, and national security.

He stated that the conference will feature town planners, political actors, lawmakers, and professionals across various fields within and outside of the build and construction industry to discuss pressing issues affecting the sector.

In his words “it is important to let Nigerians know that physical planning is directly related to security”. He further stated that with the increasing population rate in the country, there is an urgent need to effectively plan and manage the nation’s land space to avoid future disasters.

He also revealed that Governor Ishaku will deliver the keynote address, while Dr Kabir Adamu will be the lead speaker at the event respectively.

Goodwill messages will be delivered from the Inspector General of Police, Chief of Defence Staff, etc, while other attending Ministers will also deliver their addresses.
