Super Eagle striker Taiwo Awoniyi is set to undergo medical to join Nottingham Forest which recently gained promotion to top-flight division in England.

The Forest gained promotion last season in a play-off against Sheffield United and have turned attention to Awoniyi, who was at the forefront of Union Berlin’s attack last season.

According to reports from England and Germany, Nottingham Forest agreed on a deal worth £17.5m to bring the Super Eagle who scored 15 goals in 31 Bundesliga appearances last season.

If he completes the medical and finalises the move to England, it will be a homecoming after one year of leaving Liverpool permanently to join Union Berlin in Germany.

The Super Eagle started his senior career in 2015 after he joined Liverpool but never featured for the Reds before he was sent on loan to FSV Frankfurt where he scored his first goal.

After the 24-years-old ended his spell in Germany, the Merseyside club sent him to Belgium where he featured for NEC, Mouscron, and Gent in successive seasons before returning to Germany to play for Mainz 05 which precedes Union Berlin’s era.
