Two lands grabber grab jail terms for forgery, felony

One Stella Akinbobola and Adewumi Matthew Opeyemi have been sentenced to seven years and five years imprisonment respectively by an Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure for forceful entry and conspiracy to perpetrate a felony.
The convicts were on Wednesday dragged to court for unlawful invasion of land in Ondo Town by the State Police Command. The trial judge, Justice Williams Rotimi Olamide, in his ruling, found the duo guilty but found Ojopaun Tope, the third defendant not guilty.
On each of the charges, Justice Olamide gave Stella the option of a fine of N250,000 – Matthew was given the choice of a fine of N100,000 on counts 1 to 4.
The duo were charged for forging and altering a warrant of possession with the use of corrective fluid after it had been signed by Justice Bode Adegbehingbe.

Akinbobola and Opeyemi were similarly accused of depositing Claimant in the column where 1st defendant was initially written and injecting 1st defendant where Claimant was originally written.
Speaking, a former member of the National Assembly. Joseph Akinlaja, who aided nominal complaints in the trial, said he agreed on taking up the case because the duo took over the lands by force.
However, the prosecuting counsel, Tolu Abisagbo, asserted that the case was a long journey to justice.
