Following the performance of the Super Falcons, nine times champions of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations at the 12th edition of the continental tourney in Morocco, the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has directed its sub-committee to review the assessment report.
Recall that the Super Falcons, in the bid for their tenth continental title in Morocco, were defeated 1-0 in their opening game to later winners of the event South Africa in the group stage but were able to progress to the quarter-finals having garnered six points from consecutive wins against Botswana and Burundi.
Accordingly, the Super Falcons scheduled a quarter-final clash against fellow West African side, Cameroon, at Stade Mohammed V but narrowly brushed off the Lionesses by a lone goal scored by Rasheedat Ajibade in the 56′ to seal the World Cup ticket to Australia and New Zealand next year.
However, the curtain for a tenth WAFCON title was drawn in Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium as the Super Falcons conceded two red cards for wrongly timed tackles in the second half and prolonged the cracker into penalty shootouts where Morocco won 5-4.

In the communique yesterday, after listening to the head of the delegation that led the Super Falcons to the 2022 WAFCON event in Morocco, the Executive Committee directed the Technical Development Sub-Committee to evaluate the capacity of the Nigeria senior women’s football team technical crew.
The communique read in part: “Following a detailed presentation by the Head of Delegation of Nigeria team to the 12th Women Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, the Executive Committee directed its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to hold a meeting and make recommendations on the way forward for the Senior Women National Team, Super Falcons, including but not limited to a thorough evaluation of the capability of the coaching crew to lead the team to a creditable performance at the FIFA World Cup finals in Australia and New Zealand next year.”
Super Falcons resultantly, finished fourth in the continental tourney to the dismay of Nigerians after failing to cancel the own goal conceded by goalie Chiamaka Nnadozie in the 29′ to hand the Copper Queens of Zambia a third-place finish.
