MTN Nigeria, NPFL, others, partner to develop grassroots football

MTN Nigeria, the NPFL, and LaLiga have announced a partnership deal to support the development of grassroots football in Nigeria, through the establishment of the NPFL/La Liga U15 Youth League.

The partnership aims to showcase Nigerian youth football and provide capacity building for players and coaching talents, which ultimately contribute to the advancement of developmental football in the country The Trumpet gathered.

According to the League Management Company (LMC), there will be a one-week coaching seminar that will see seasoned LaLiga coaches interact with their local counterparts on modern youth coaching techniques ahead of the tournament.

Following, forty coaches in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), national team coaches as well as other youth coaches across the country will benefit from the seminar.

LMC Chairman Shehu Dikko, in his statement, described MTN Nigeria’s involvement as the major partner and sponsor of the U15 youth league as a welcome development.

He added that this is the fourth tournament since the league debuted in 2017.

Dikko said, “We are extremely delighted to have MTN as the Elite Partner & supporter of the NPFL/LaLiga U15 youth league which has been going on since 2017. It is worthy to note that this year’s (2022) edition is the fourth.”

Meanwhile, MTN Nigeria, asserts that they are committed to helping identify and develop the country’s young footballing talents by providing the needed platform for them to excel.

MTN Nigeria, in the statement by its Chief Marketing Officer(CMO) Adia Sowho, said, “We aim to provide & support avenues to identify & coach the best young footballing talents in Nigeria, ultimately promoting grassroots football in Nigeria.”
