What is Christianity all about?

This question is very important these days because people need to know what Christianity is all about. Christianity is not a political party where you defend the interest of your party whether wrong or right and attack the opposition or seek their downfall.

The mandate of Christians as given by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is to love our neighbours the way we love ourselves and also to love our enemies the way we love ourselves.

The business of Christians cut across equipping fellow Christians to live a holy and righteous life with each other who are not Christians yet through peaceful evangelism and also ineffective prayers for them to understand the mandate of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ so that they can key in.

It is however not expected that in the process of passing the message to anybody, we should insult anyone or their religion; that is not Christianity.

What is a Christian

God has the power to change everybody but has left everyone to take a personal decision without any form of coercion, and as faithful Christians, we should follow the standard of God.

Christianity is about living a holy and righteous life in Christ Jesus. It is not about self-discipline or living a high moral life without accepting Jesus Christ as Lord.

To be a Christian is to first and foremost recognise that all humans have sinned and come short of the glory of God and regret your actions as a sinner. Even children born into this world have the sins of their parents following them, so no one is exempted.

Then, after realising that you are a sinner who has not lived the holy life of God and has even inherited sins from your parents, you now look for a way out on how you can be redeemed from your sins and all the consequences.

It is then that you make up your mind to forsake your sins and invite Jesus Christ to come and head your life instead of the devil that has been heading your life as a sinner.

Once you invite Jesus Christ genuinely into your life, He will come and wash you clean of all your sins and release the Holy Spirit to you so that living a holy life will be easy.

You cannot call yourself a Christian and you are fornicating and telling lies always and you are justifying yourself how nobody can live a holy life. That is not Christianity.

The Spirit of God is Holy and even if a Pastor decides to leave a holy life and starts sinning, the Holy Spirit will depart.

It is the Holy Spirit living in a person that can help the person to live like Jesus Christ on earth, so without the Holy Spirit in you, you are not a Christian.

Practising Christianity is when you allow the Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of Christ to take over your spirit, soul and body and the result will be the manifestation of holiness and true love in your life and to others.

In essence, you and your former wrong visions of life will cease and the vision of Christ will take over.

For instance, if what you do in private does not reflect the holiness of the Spirit of Christ, then you are just a Christian by association and not in deed.

If you habitually engage in things that Christ would not do if He was on earth, then the Spirit of Christ is not living inside you, hence you need to repent and ask the Spirit of Christ to take over your soul or spirit before it is too late.

Your stay on earth is timed by God, so you are bound to leave the earth one day and give an account of how you made use of the spirit, soul and body God gave you. The judgement will be whether you allowed God to rule you or you allowed the devil to rule over you.

Life after death is real. Surrender and allow God to rule your life. Rebellion or sin against God, yourself and others is the highest form of foolishness because every human being is meant to live forever like God as a spirit being and you must reap what you sowed either on earth or after your journey on earth.

No human being dies completely because the spirit is still living somewhere even when they depart from the earth in physical death.

The truth is that if you can take time off and examine the consequences of any sin dispassionately, you will agree with God that sin is a killer. The wages of sin is death and the gift of God is eternal life brought through Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Messiah.

He has come and gone and He left for us through His commandments how to please God and fulfil our destinies. He is the only man that ever lived who conquered the mystery of death. He said He will die and rise on the third day and that is what He did to prove that He is from God Almighty, the only one that has power over life and death.

Don’t be deceived because Satan has different religions to turn the faces of men from accepting Jesus Christ. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and your life will receive revival through the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, in summary, Christianity is a religion where the adherents live like Jesus Christ in holiness and righteousness on earth. Anything short of living a holy and righteous life according to the Word of God is not Christianity but another religion and we should beware because Christ said that even some people that called Him Lord on earth will still be thrown into Hell-Fire (Matthew 7:22) on the last day if they didn’t live according to the Holy Word of God on earth.

So, don’t believe any false teaching that the Grace of God is sufficient to exempt you from the consequences of sin on earth and after earth. The Grace of God is to help us live a holy life and not to continue in sin.

God bless us in Jesus Name.
