LAWMA Academy, the educational arm of the Lagos Waste Management Authority, is set to hold its second waste essay competition for Lagos residents, tagged: “Impacts of Waste Containerization on Effective Waste Management”.

According to a release by LAWMA, the competition, among other things, is to promote awareness of its recently launched “Adopt-a-Bin program”, as well as broaden participants’ knowledge in the area of waste management and environmental sustainability.

It states: “Our portal is open for the second edition of the waste competition with the topic, ‘Impact of waste containerization of effective waste management’. This is in line with LAWMA’s current initiative to promote proper waste containerisation through the Adopt-a-Bin programme launched on 23rd February, 2022. We believe that this will help to get people’s opinion on waste containerization and recommendations to help in remodeling the programme.”

The statement stated further, that the essay competition is open to persons aged 18 years to 30 years, with cash prizes of N50,000 for the winner, N30,000 for the first runner-up and N20,000 for the second runner- up, The Trumpet gathered.

The release advised participants to visit LAWMA’s portal for full guidelines, indicating that the maximum essay length is 1,500 words, to be submitted in a Word file, with a Times New Roman font size 12.
