Suspected kidnappers rescued from jungle justice by police

Oyo State Police Command has rescued two suspects caught while allegedly attempting to kidnap a nine-year-old girl, from being lynched by angry mob.

The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, disclosed this on Monday in a statement issued at Ibadan. Adding that the suspects were alleged to have attempted to abduct the girl while on her way to church.

Mr Osifeso said police officers on Sunday around Alakia Adelubi axis at about 9:20 a.m. responded to a distress call on the “execution of jungle justice.”

He added that preliminary investigations revealed that the girl was in the company of her mother, Afolabi Modupe, and other siblings when the two suspects attempted to snatch her from her mother’s grip. The Trumpet gathered,

He appealed to citizens not to take laws into their hands, while assuring the public that the police will ensure that justice is done in all criminal cases.

“The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ngozi Onadeko, appealed to the citizenry against taking laws into their hands with the assurance of a diligent and thorough investigation into the incident,” he stated.
