Squash your inimical water resources bill, IPDI tells FG, NASS

By Kelvin Ohoror

The Ijaw People’s Development Initiative, IPDI, has warned the Federal Government and the National Assembly to drop the anti-people National Water Resources Bill to avoid a fresh oil war in the Niger Delta region.

The Spokesman of IPDI, Comrade Ezekiel Kagbala had condemned the reintroduced National Water Resources Bill before the National Assembly as he described it as inimical and provocative.

The group, in a statement sent to newsmen in Delta State, urged the Nigerian government to appreciate the peaceful depositions of the Niger Delta people, calling for immediate withdrawal of the water resources bill from further hearing.

He stated,” Buhari-led administration should know that Niger Deltans paid huge sacrifices at the expense of their environment to maintain the existing fragile peace in the region.”

He advised the federal government and the national assembly to abort the unfair and unjust water resources bill and channel such efforts toward developing the oil-producing states that have put food on the table of ungrateful lawmakers.

The Ijaw group also made it clear that it would not allow selfish individuals to use the instrumentality of power and the anti-people bill to hijack the natural resources of the Niger Delta people.
