Sports Minister unsatisfied with NFF, LMC, in football development

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare is dissatisfied with the level of work done by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and League Management Company (LMC) to develop the nation’s football architecture.
Dare said though they both organs tried putting in effort in certain areas, there persist several pressing issues bedeviling the football system of the nation.
The Sports Minister, who made the statement when he received a delegation of the Club Owners Association led by the chairman, Barr Isaac Danladi, in the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, stressed that the Sports Ministry is mandated to provide direction in terms of policy and initiatives for sports development.
“We are aware of the efforts made by the NFF and the League Management Company (LMC) to address some of these challenges, but we are not satisfied with the efforts that have been made,” Dare said.
“The problems, and the challenges, have been out there in the open, but we have not seen a commensurate effort and commitment to bring about a league that is virile, profitable, and that fits our reputation as a football-loving nation.

“As the Ministry that has the mandate to superintend sports development and set a general direction, in terms of policy and initiatives for sports development of which football is major, we have passed our concerns to the necessary administrators, we have had time to sit with them, we’ve had an exchange of correspondence and we believe that concerted efforts can bring about the change,” the Minister added.
Commending the Sports Minister for his accomplishment, despite being barely three years in office, Danladi pointed out the outstanding feat recorded by Nigerian athletes in Oregon and Birmingham.
Recall that Tobi Amusan broke the 100m hurdles record in the World Athletics Championships in Oregon and went ahead along with other athletes to win the gold medals in the 4×400m and also 100mh events at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
However, Danladi was quick to exemplify the input of the Sports Minister, who during his stead at the helm of sports affairs in the country, Nigeria broke uncommon grounds.
