Sacked Taraba APC senatorial candidate to appeal court ruling

By Suru Charles

The emergence of the member representing Wukari/Ibi federal constituency, Danjuma Usman Shiddi, as the senatorial candidate for Taraba South on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has been cut short by the Appeal court.

The court, which on Wednesday sacked Shiddi also declared his rival, David Jimkuta, as the senatorial candidate for the aforementioned senatorial district.

Reacting to the judgement, Shiddi said “electioneering is not a task for the faint-hearted or the unserious or pretentious minds, it demands great courage, capacity and resourcefulness.”

With the decision of the Court of Appeal, he said “we are ready beyond the ordinary” adding that “Our resolve to reset current political power dynamics and build a new Southern Taraba that works for all is iron-cast and unshakeable like the Rock of Gibraltar”.

The member who had no doubt made up his mind to approach the Supreme court believes that he would at the end of the day be declared as the authentic senatorial candidate of the zone.

“I am a firm believer in the judiciary and the immeasurable promises of our State and great country. I am wholly convinced that it is in our self-enlightened interest to quickly and responsibly redeem our suppressed greatness as Tarabans.

He said his decision to appeal the judgement, “will protect future generations to be trusted, as leadership ought to flow from demonstrable commitment to the public good in the spirit of service, empathy and sacrifice.”

He beckoned his supporters, to distance themselves from acts capable of jeopardising the peace in Taraba South and the state at large.

“I request all of you to keep faith alive and remain focused as I am resilient and resolute in pursuing this matter within the precinct of the law. We are better and greater together. The struggle continues until Victory is assured.” He said.
