Rivers United win State AITEO Cup

Rivers United and champions of the 2021-2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, defeated Police Crime Bursters 3-1 at the Adokiye Amiesmaka Stadium to win the 2022 Rivers State AITEO Cup.

According to the match report by Charles Mayuku, Media Officer of the Pride of Rivers, the NPFL champions scored two first-half goals, all thanks to Chijioke Akuneto’s and Sikiru Olatunbosun’s strikes.

Sequel to the above, Rivers United were in no calm nerves as Malachi Ohawume tripled the lead with a sublime finish to record a 3-0 lead. The Trumpet Gathered

However, Police Crime Bursters rescued a consolatory goal against Rivers United to make it 3-1.

Following the victory, Mayumi added that the win further extends Rivers United’s dominance in the Rivers State AITEO Cup and importantly, also means alongside Police Crime Bursters, the Stanley Eguma tutored side will be representing Rivers State at the National stage of the AITEO Cup competition.

Nevertheless, the newly crowned NPFL Champions, Rivers United, will visit Ibadan on Sunday 10th July 2022 to take on Shooting Stars FC in a matchday 37 tie.
