Rise Against Rape, Women And Girl-Child Violence, Akeredolu To FIDA

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has urged the leadership and members of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) to be at the vanguard of advocacy against women and girl-child abuse in the society.
He admonished them to ensure their impacts and influences are felt across Nigeria.
Akeredolu called on the women Lawyers to deal with the hazard of rape and other violence against women that have eaten deep into the society
The Governor spoke in his office on Tuesday while receiving a courtesy visit of members of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) led by the State Chairperson, Catherine Ogunjebi.

In a statement, he assured FIDA of the readiness of his administration that has always given priority to gender-based issues for the advancement of the society, to continue to join in the course of women and girl-child advocacy.
However, he motivated the members to get more people involved in their stakeholders’ engagement for more positive impacts.
Furthermore, the State Chairperson of FIDA Catherine Ogunjebi had earlier appreciated Governor Akeredolu for signing into law, Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law (VAPP) 2021, which she described as a development on a landmark victory for FIDA in the state and our nation, Nigeria.
