
The Taraba state police Commissioner, Yusuf A. Suleiman, has enjoined the people of the state and the public at large to disregard the trending reports making news on social media, that over a hundred persons were abducted on Saturday in the state.
Making the plea in a press statement issued out on his behalf by the command’s spokesman, Abdullahi Usman to journalists in Jalingo, the state capital, he said the report is misleading, mischievous, and misinforming.
It would be recalled that some social media platforms in the state announced that there were heavy gunshots along Mararraban Apawa – Zing road, where they claimed that no fewer than one hundred persons were kidnapped.
Admitting that there were sporadic gunshots along Mararraban Yorro, Zing Jalingo road by unknown gunmen, the CP on receipt of the information, deployed the operatives of Special Task Force based at the Command’s Headquarters to the area.
“Upon arrival, it was discovered that hoodlums suspected to be armed robbers/kidnappers blocked the road, and shot sporadically. The operatives engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel.” He added
Two persons were however confirmed by the police to have been abducted, while some unspecified valuables belonging to the commuters returning from Pupule and Monkin markets respectfully were also said to have been carted away by the hoodlums.

He vowed to remain resolute in his efforts to get rid of crime and criminality in the state, he said the police working assiduously to rescue the kidnapped victims unharmed and possibly arrest the culprits.

they are terrorising and robbing Students and communities around Taraba State University Jalingo.
The suspects who the police said have been giving useful information that will lead to the arrest of their cohorts now at large, are, Joseph Desmind, Swaibu Sambu, Danladi Ibrahim and Douglas John.
Operatives of Kofai Police Station attached to Sunkani Division in Ardo-Kola local government council, as announced in the statement, succeeded in breaking the syndicate of some miscreants and arresting the aforementioned suspects.
The command further assures Tarabans that it would always remain resolute in its efforts to get the state rid of crime and criminality.
