Relegation scare: ‘We reached our goal’

Everton underwent a tumultuous journey to qualify for the 2022-2023 English Premier League (EPL) season having battled in the relegation zone, unfortunately.

The Toffees never hoped or ever dreamt to bargain or struggle to preserve a 72-year Premier League history but it happened to avail Frank Lampard the opportunity to steer the Merseyside club out of the Red Zone.

The former Chelsea manager, who was appointed after Everton parted ways with Rafael Benitez following the club’s poor results that resulted in their drop into the relegation zone, was able to, with a game handy, survive the relegation scare.

Penultimate the last EPL game against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium where they lost 5-1, Toffees had staged a brilliant comeback against Crystal Palace from two goals down to win 3-2; sparking a climax atmosphere.

It is a campaign that will forever remain indelible in the hearts of Toffees as their relentless efforts and commitments to remain in the English topflight league paid off to give room for Donny van de Beek to express his gratitude.

Midfielder Donny van de Beek, who joined Everton on loan from Manchester United in January 2022, featuring 7 times to record two Premier league goals for the Toffees, pointed out that the club reached its goal at the end of the season.

“Not the way we wanted to finish the season but we already reached our goal a few days ago I want to thank all the players, staff and especially the fans who were there in the good and tough times,” the Dutch tweeted.

Everton, in the course of battling for survival to retain their English Premier League status, contended with Leeds United and Burnley to succeed relegation to the English Football League (EFL) Championship.
