Taraba state polytechnic at weekend matriculated 3,400 students in the 2022/2023 academic sessions.
Speaking, the Rector, Dr. Ayuba Ibrahim Abarshi cautioned the students to stay away from acts capable of truncating the peace of the institution.
He also cautioned Nigerian students at large against spreading fake news and other social vices that are likely to jeopardise their academic career.
Students indulging in such unwholesome vices, according to him, will unnecessarily exposed themselves to various dangerous consequences that might destroy their academic careers and sometimes even consume their lives.
He said, “I want to let you know that you must shun hate speech, fake news, rumour mongering, absenteeism, negligence of duties, extortion, tribal sentiment, bitterness and branding the Polytechnic bad to the outside world.
“For the students particularly”, he said, “it is imperative to let you know that as you become bonafide students of Taraba State Polytechnic, be aware that the institution has zero tolerance for Cultism, Examination malpractice, Rape, Fighting, Indecent dressing, Bullying, Stealing,Tribalism, Religious intolerance, Riot and Illegal protest among others”.

The Rector who not only cautioned the students against indulging in acts capable of soiling the good image of the institution, was also observed to have warned the staff of the institution against laziness.
Urging them to eschew “laziness” by working hard to contribute maximally towards achieving the goals and objectives of the institution, equipping the old and new student with the much needed knowledge, he believed will go a long way in reducing the social vices presently bedevilling the Nigerian society.
Visibly elated at the exercise which took place at the school premises in Jalingo, the state capital, some of the newly matriculated students who spoke with our state correspondent vowed to eschew acts capable of expelling them from the institution.
