Real Madrid reject Liverpool’s €90m offer for Fede Valverde

By Oviri Kelvin, Sports Editor

Spanish league giant Real Madrid have bluntly rejected a €90m offer for Fede Valverde after selling defensive midfielder Casemiro to Manchester United for circa €70m.

Valverde, according to reports, is a key player for coach Carlo Ancelotti who does not want to part ways with the 24-year-old this soon.

The Uruguay international recently renewed his contract which would subsist until 2027 with clauses attached including a €1billion as buyout clause.

Tomás González-Martín, a Spanish sports journalist, said Los Blancos rejected several offers and thwarted efforts from clubs, most especially from the Premier League, interested in Valverde.

The central midfielder, who is integrated into the Real Madrid squad from the right wing by Ancelotti, joined Los Blancos in 2016 for €5m from Uruguayan Primera Division Clausura’s side, CA Peñarol.

After his switch to Spain, he started in the youth team of Los Blancos, Real Madrid Castilla, before being sent on a season-long loan to Deportivo La Coruña and on fulfilment of the deal, was incorporated into the Real Madrid squad in 2018.

Furthermore, Tomas Gonzalez-Martin revealed Liverpool are desperate to secure the signature of Valverde to complement its midfield after being hit by a lot of injuries with Thiago Alcantara, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain,
others and recent Nade Keita who got injured in a training session before the trip to Old Trafford.

He added Liverpool tendered a bid of €90m for the Uruguayan but Real Madrid outrightly rejected the offer having sold one of their defensive stalwarts to Manchester United and are not ready to risk another.
