Lagos State commissioner of police CP Abiodun Alabi has confirmed the arrest and detention of two policemen and disciplinary action being taken against them after they were made to return the sum of N400,000 extorted from a man.
Their arrest followed the cry of the victim which made police authorities to launch an investigation, leading to the arrest of the duo.
The two, Eshue Augustine and Abebe Saturday, attached to Anthony Police Division of the Lagos State Command, were said to have collected the phone of the man, who gave his name as Ken, with the Twitter handle @Kendulite, logged into his app and led him to a Point of Sale (POS) stand to withdraw the money.
It was gathered that the man was stopped on the road in his car and the policemen arrested him for an undisclosed offence, The Trumpet gathered.
He therefore wrote about the incident on his Twitter handle which got the attention of the state police command. He was invited to the command by police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, a Superintendent, SP after he asked him to send his phone number. At the station, he was able to identify the policemen.

Following the identification and the confession of the policemen, they were made to return the money to the man after which they were detained and disciplinary action was said to have commenced against them.
Announcing the return of his money on Monday, he tweeted: “Special thanks to you, Ben Hundeyin who worked tirelessly since I complained and now, I have my full money back. God bless you.”
Also tweeting on the matter, Hundeyin disclosed on his Twitter handle: “I sincerely apologize on behalf of the Force for their corrupt practice. It doesn’t stop there. Disciplinary action has commenced.”
