Police rescue six kidnapped victims in Edo

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command has said it has rescued six of ten victims that were kidnapped along Igueben-Opoji road while conveying corpse from Taraba State to Iruekpen in Edo State for burial.
The Police, who said it acted on information in collaboration with the local vigilante and hunters, stated that the suspected kidnappers accosted a Toyota Hiace Bus with Registration No. AB 14 TR driven by one Abdullahi Adamu and kidnapped ten (10) passengers at the wee hours of Monday.
According to the Police, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ekpoma Division, CSP Bukoye Oyegbemi, on receipt of the information immediately swung into action, mobilized team of police operatives, local vigilante and hunters to the scene and embarked on bush combing operation during which six victims were rescued unhurt.

The Police noted that efforts are still ongoing to rescue the remaining four victims while assuring the public that the suspected kidnappers would be arrested.
Commenting on the development, the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Philip Ogbaudu, thanked the general public for cooperating with the police by way of providing prompt and credible information on the activities of criminal elements in the state.
He reinstated the command’s commitment for more robust patrol across the state especially on the highways.
Ogbaudu, who advised criminal elements in Edo State to turn over a new leaf, said hardened criminals would be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.
