Police Release Sylvester Oromoni’s Body for Burial After Fresh Autopsy

The Lagos State Police Command has released the remains of the late student of Dowen College, Sylvester Oromoni, to his family for burial after carrying out a fresh autopsy.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Adekunle Ajisebutu, said the fresh autopsy on the corpse of Sylvester Oromoni was to ascertain the cause and nature of death.
Sylvester’s body was moved from Delta State to Lagos on Monday for the purpose of the autopsy that took place at a public health facility in Lagos State.
The Autopsy was carried out in the presence of five interested parties – the victim’s parents, parents of the alleged students, the school’s representatives, the police investigators and representatives from the Ministry of Health, who stood in for the Lagos State government.

On Wednesday, the family of Sylvester took his body back to Delta State, where he is expected to be buried.
Sylvester was said to have allegedly died from the injuries sustained during an assault by five of his senior colleagues who wanted to initiate him into cultism at Dowen College in Lekki, Lagos State.
The Lagos State Government said it is keenly interested in the outcome of the investigation to unravel the mystery behind the unfortunate death of the young boy.
Dowen College has since been shutdown by the Lagos State government pending the outcome of investigation of the issue.
The result of the autopsy, however, is yet to be released while the police investigation continues.
The Oromoni family had demanded a coroner inquest into the shocking death of their son. This is part of the many efforts by the family to get the deserved justice for their 12-year-old boy.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has stated that some students of the College have been arrested in connection to the alleged assault.
