Four suspected members of rival Eiye and Aye confraternities have been arrested over their alleged involvement in criminal activities in the Badagry area of the State.
The suspects and their various confraternities were said to have been plaguing Badagry with incessant killings and other nefarious cult-related clashes.
Their activities allegedly made residents apprehensive, thereby prompting different complaints to Police in the area to immediately arrest the situation by bringing perpetuators to book and restore public confidence.
Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Saturday said the suspects will be charged to court after the completion of investigation.
Hundeyin named those arrested as “Gbenga Fransisco Olanrenwaju aka Gbengene ‘m’ aged 40, Asokere Segun aka Seriki ‘m’ aged 36, Adediran Ibrahim aka Kush ‘m’ aged 23 and Jimoh Sodiq aka Irawo ‘m’ aged 27”, while saying that the suspects were arrested in various parts of Badagry, Lagos State in an operation that lasted days.

“The arrest of the suspect followed painstaking weeks-long investigation into incessant complaints of cult-related disturbances and killings in Badagry.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspects belong to Eiye and Aiye confraternities. Suspects would be arraigned at the conclusion of a more comprehensive investigation,” he said.
Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Abiodun Alabi, while restating his commitment to ensuring lasting peace in the State, assured residents that the Command will continue to combat cultism and related crimes in the State.
Secret cult related crimes and traffic robbery among other crimes, have been identified to be prevalent in Lagos State. However, the CP in a recent interview with The Trumpet said that he is determined to tackle the menace and bring perpetrators to book.
