Oyo police declare man wanted for assaulting pregnant wife

The Oyo State Police Command says it has launched a manhunt for a middle-aged man for allegedly assaulting his wife.

This was confirmed by a top police source, after an incident which occurred in the accused’s residence, where he was seen beating his pregnant wife over Sahur (pre-dawn meal).

The Trumpet gathered that the distasteful incident happened around 4am at their residence, in Ogbere Housing Estate, Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to an eye witness, “This man always beats his wife over any little misunderstanding they have. I was able to record today’s event. He’s a Muslim, so I think they had an argument over Sahur.”

“This man didn’t mind that she was pregnant with his second child and started pouncing on her. She wailed for hours before she was able to flee to her parent’s house. Meanwhile, the man has fled his house after being declared wanted by security personnel.”

In a related ugly development, a pregnant woman, two month-old baby, and two others have allegedly lost their lives during an early morning fire at the Bonny-Bille-Nembe Jetty in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Also, over 40 boats were burnt in the fire, said to be caused by persons who attempted to load illegally refined products, popularly known as ‘Kpofire’ in the local parlance.

The fire started at about mid hour, even as the victims, which also included a male adult, were reportedly burnt beyond recognition. Rivers State Police Command have launched an investigation into the incident.
