Ondo Police vow to rescue kidnapped traditional head, three others

The Ondo State Police Command has assured that the kidnapped traditional head and three others who were abducted on Thursday around Ago Yeye, Along Owo/Ikare road in a Toyota Corolla Car, Reg. No. KAK 818 AE would be rescued uninjured.

In a statement by the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Funmi Odunlami in Akure said police, local hunters and vigilantes in the area are combing the forest to rescue the victims and arrest the perpetrators.

The statement reads: ” The Police on 4/8/2022 received a distress call that at about 6:30 pm around AGO YEYE, ALONG OWO/IKARE Road, gunmen shot at one TOYOTA COROLLA CAR, REG. NO. KAK 818 AE, while in motion, the bullet hit the driver on the head and the vehicle came to a halt.

“The other occupants numbering about 4 (identities unknown) were whisked into the bush while the driver was abandoned.

“The police have recovered the vehicle while the driver was taken to the hospital.

“The driver is currently in a stable condition while the police, local hunters and vigilantes in the area are combing the bush for the rescue of the victims and arrest of the assailants.”

Recall that The Trumpet had earlier reported that unknown gunmen abducted the traditional head of Iku Quarter, the Oniku of Iku Quarters in Ikare Akoko, headquarters of Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State, High Chief Mukaila Bello, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Hon. Adeniran Adeyemo, the former House of Assembly candidate for Akoko North-East Constituency, Yèyé Gbafinro and a community leader, Bashiru Adekile.
