School Resumption: Ondo Govt warns against illegal fees collection

Friday Omosola, Akure

As schools resumed for the first term of the 2022/2023 academic session, the Ondo State government has warned against a collection of unapproved fees from admission seekers into the State’s Public Schools.

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olufemi Agagu FNIVS, gave out the warning while monitoring school resumption with the Permanent Secretary and other key officials of the ministry in Akure and environs.

Agagu disclosed that the government had forwarded the list of approved collectables to all public schools (primary and secondary) across the state, adding that schools are not allowed to collect more than the approved levies.

Mr Agagu said the government would not impel parents or guardians to buy any particular textbook as a prerequisite for admission, and warned school heads against such practice.

He further expressed satisfaction with the students’ turnout as well as hailed the ongoing smooth admission process into public schools across the state.

The Commissioner urged parents to be patient, letting out that their wards would be placed appropriately.
