Ondo State House of Assembly has declared the seats of two lawmakers vacant. They are; Favour Towomewo, representing Ilaje Constituency II and Success Torhukerjijo, representing the Ese-Odo Constituency over alleged anti-party activities.

The decision of the House followed letters from the wards of the two lawmakers which were addressed to the Chairperson of the All Progressives Congress(APC) and subsequently sent to the House.

The Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun, declared the lawmaker’s seat vacant after the Clerk of the House, Taye Benjamin, read the letter. Oleyelogun also ordered that the letter be forwarded to the Independent Electoral Commission(INEC).

Recall that Tomomewo, the only female lawmaker in the state House of Assembly was among the nine lawmakers of the State Assembly who failed to sign the impeachment process against the former deputy governor of the state, Hon. Agboola Ajayi. Torhukerhijo and Tomomewo and other seven lawmakers signed a letter stating that they were not in support of the impeachment move against the former deputy governor.

All nine lawmakers were suspended from the House activities while four of them were reinstated in December 2020 due to their failure to sign the impeachment against Ajayi.
