Okowa commends traditional rulers for promoting peace in Delta

Delta state governor, Dr lfeanyi Okowa, has commended traditional rulers in the state for promoting peace and co-existence in their domains that have paved the way for development in the state.

Okowa gave the commendation yesterday during the presentation of staff of office to His Royal Majesty, Joseph Nkanye Ugbarugba, the Okpara-Uku of Otuoku kingdom in Ndokwa local government area of Delta state.

Represented at the event which took place at the state Government House, Asaba, by his deputy, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, Okowa noted that the vast background, experiences, training and exposure of the traditional rulers have contributed greatly to the maintenance of peace and harmonious co-existence towards the development of the society.

The Governor said the presentation of staff of office to His Royal Majesty, Joseph Nkanye Ugbarugba, was in line with the state’s government statutory obligations as provided in the extant laws that empower the state governor to present staff of office to new traditional rulers after duly installed and enthroned by the people of their kingdoms.

He added that the emergence of HRM Joseph Nkanye Ugbarugba came to the people of Otuoku kingdom and indeed the state as a welcome development, considering his exposure, wealth of experience and acknowledgement of justice, equity and honesty.

He enjoined the monarch to bring to bear his leadership experience in the affairs of his kingdom for peace, progress, and development of the state.

“It is our prayers that God almighty grant you sound health, wisdom, and foresight in the task of superintending over the traditional affairs of your kingdom.

“Let me, therefore, use this opportunity to convey the appreciation of this state government to our royal father’s remarkable support and cooperation we always received from you.

“Let me also express my appreciation to the people of Ndokwa East local government and indeed the state for the confidence they placed on Governor Okowa’s led administration. I assure you that will not let you down.”
