Ohanaeze mourns late Biafra warlord, Madiebo

The leadership of apex Igbo socio-cultural Organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide has described the demise of a Biafra warlord, the former Nigerian Army officer and General Officer Commanding (GOC) defunct Biafran Army, Major General Alexander Atta Madiebo, as a great loss.

In a statement signed and made available to The Trumpet by the Secretary-General of body, Maxi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said the late Madiebo was a disciplined military administrator who will be remembered for his fearlessness, bravery, and history will be kind to him for standing up for what was perpendicular in his career as a result of the circumstances surrounding his time in history.

According to lsiguzoro, Ndigbo will join peace-loving Nigerians to commemorate the life and times of Major General Alexander Madiebo as he will be laid to rest in his country home at Umuokpu Awka, Awka North of Anambra on Friday, 26th August 2022.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo declares four market days of mourning in honour of Major General Alexander Atta Madiebo, in which Ndigbo is expected to honour him strictly in line with the established Igbo traditional rites, cultural, and other burial ordinances.

“Nzeamalu as fondly called will be remembered for his adventurous outings in defence of the old Eastern region”.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo modern library will be named after Major General Alexander Madiebo in remembrance of his gallantry and chivalry during the Biafra War, and after the war, he lived a private life filled with humility and service in Christianity.

“May the Almighty God forgive his shortcomings and grant his family, friends and Ndigbo fortitude to bear this loss, the statement stated”
